I split my movies via genre (action, animated, etc.) and use whatever the first genre specified in IMDB is for where a movie goes. Most users tend to have 2 libraries, movies and TV.
Most of my users run their own Plex setup so we all share with each other. Storage will be switching to a synology 1821+.Īll in all it's a good setup. System will change soon to all Raspberry pi based (except for Plex which will stay the optiplex for the time being) for services.

MythTV, Popcorn hour, some custom code I knocked together and finally Plex. It started small, megabytes to gigabytes to terabytes. So I started this journey years ago (20+) building a collection over a frame relay via irc groups. I have about 5tb left for media, which I expect to last me at least another two years or so, since I add media at a fairly slow rate (1-3 movies, 10 or so tv episodes each month).
